Abstract

|
Objectives : This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of Chongmyung-Tang Prescription Combination(CmTP-) extract on the production of amyloid protein and -site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme(BACE) activity.
Methods : The effect of CmTP- extract on expression of APP mRNA, BACE2 mRNA in BV2 microglia cell line treated by lipopolysacchride(LPS) and amyloid protein fragment(A fragment) were investigated. The effect of CmTP- extract on production of amyloid protein(A) in BV2 microglia cell line treated by LPS and A fragment were investigated. The effect of CmTP- extract on BACE activity were investigated.
Results : 1. CmTP- extract the most significantly suppressed the expression of APP mRNA, BACE2 mRNA in BV2 microglia cell line treated by LPS and A fragment. 2. CmTP- extract significantly suppressed the production of A in BV2 microglia cell line treated by LPS and A fragment. 3. CmTP- extract the most significantly inhibited BACE activity.
Conclusions : These results suggest that CmTP- may be effective for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. Investigation into clinical use of CmTP- for Alzheimer’s Disease is suggested for future research.
